Having said in my last post that I’ll be talking about essential tools for a few posts, I’m going to teach you an essential technique this time, as it’s not an actual tool – but still very important for your website – whether it’s a WordPress website or not!
| The technique is one I call
“website stickiness”. There may be better names (I’m sure there are technical ones anyway), but this does what it says on the tin: it helps you keep visitors “stuck” to your website. |
Here’s a short video to show you what this is all about
So don’t forget to keep your licks “clean” and your website “sticky” !!

Tracey,
Didn’t realize that what I’ve been doing since forever was called ‘sticky’. Love the name.
Seriously, this is something that everyone should do to their website.
Hi Leona, well done on being better than some corporate websites!!
I am always a bit concerned when big business can’t do something as simple (but important) as this!! Especially when they are directing people away to Social Media sites, where it’s so easy for their visitors to get distracted & forget where they arrived at the site FROM…
Excellent post, thanks! I will definitely be working on making my blog sticky. There may be a more technical term for it, but this one’s more fun.
Hi Krissy,
Great, this is a good habit to adopt. I think I mentioned that if you’re linking within your own site (e.g. to another post, or your contact page for example) then it’s different, but always do this if you’re sending visitors “off-piste” as it were
Excellent video, Tracey!
Thanks Michelle!
